University of Notre Dame Press: April 2016 to July 2022

Editor in Chief, April 2018 to July 2022: Managed operations of Notre Dame Press acquisitions department, including a staff of three (one full editor until 2021, one assistant editor, and one ND postdoctoral fellow during academic year). Trained, assisted and planned with acquisitions team on all departmental efforts and initiatives. Acquired and managed up to 25 book titles a year in regional and indigenous history and archaeology, global political violence and extremist studies, Latin American studies, Atlantic World and African American history, and colonial era and early American studies. Books reviewed in Washington Post, Chronicle of Higher Education, New York Review of Books and elsewhere. Recent awards for titles acquired include the American Anthropological Association Margaret Mead Book Award 2021 for most promising work designed for a broader audience by a young scholar and the Catholic Press Association Book Award 2019 in history. Worked with Press director on acquisitions concerns or initiatives, collaborated on interdepartmental planning meetings and assisted with Notre Dame campus-related questions. Instituted open invitation publishing lectures and workshops open to entire Notre Dame community. Planned and prepared quarterly Press editorial board meetings for review of potential new books.

Senior Acquisitions Editor, April 2016 to April 2018: Initiated new Notre Dame Press publication lists in regional and indigenous archaeology, political violence and extremism, Atlantic World and North American history, and US politics. Organized Acquisitions department information to be accessible to wider Press for feedback collaboration and future season planning. Opened lines of communication with relevant Notre Dame departments and represented Press at major academic conferences.

 

Vanderbilt University Press: July 2008 to April 2016

Acquisitions Editor: Initiated new lists in Latin American studies, Southern and Nashville history and relevant book series. Instituted collaborative publishing program with Vanderbilt Center for Latin American Studies and Hermitage Historical Museum. Managed co-publishing relationship with Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum to produce books on music and music history.

 

University Press of Florida: July 2003 to July 2008

Acquisitions Editor, February 2006 to July 2008: Managed publishing programs in southern US history Caribbean history and archaeology, southeastern archaeology, Florida studies, African American religion, and political history. Directed and coordinated approximately 12-15 book series across multiple disciplines, assisting series editors with consideration of possible projects and collaborations. Represented Press at academic conferences, state universities and visits to state government entities and organizations.
